The CPS explained the measles outbreak in Russia the importation of infection from abroad

Outbreaks of measles in some regions associated with the importation of infection from abroad, is spoken in the message of Rospotrebnadzor posted on the Agency’s website.

“In connection with the worsening of the epidemiological situation of measles in foreign countries in the Russian Federation in a number of subjects continue to record cases of this infection among different population groups due to, mainly, the importation of infection into the country from abroad and spread among susceptible population”, — stated in the message.

As an illustration of this assertion, the Agency cites the world health organization. So, in the European region only for the first four months of this year were registered more than 51 thousand cases of measles. The increased incidence observed in Ukraine (34,2 thousand sluchaev), Kazakhstan (5.3 thousand), Kyrgyzstan (1.5 million), Georgia (2.9 thousand), Macedonian Republic (829), Lithuania (329), Bosnia and Herzegovina (327), Bulgaria (236).

In this regard, the Agency intends to do “cleans immunization” — to vaccinate citizens and foreigners-migrant workers and also to cover vaccinations “hard to reach” groups: citizens leading nomadic and semi-nomadic way of life, refugees, internally displaced persons and other entities not included in the approved for 2019 national plan of preventive vaccinations.
